Eclipse: Edge of Light
Eclipse: Edge of Light is a mobile VR game for the Google Daydream platform by White Elk Studios
for this project I was contracted as the Lead Environment artist.
Tasks
The Tasks I performed were over a 4 month period.
I was responsible for the Environments compositions which included
- Modeling/texture
- Lighting
- Optimization
- Integrating objects with design team
Model/Texture
The vast majority of the game used substance designer this allowed for iteration of the textures which is much slower to do in photoshop.
Optimization
Optimization was a huge part of this project, We wanted large open spaces and at the same time we needed to run at stable 16.6ms or risk giving the player VR sickness. This was a challenge because of the phones that we were targeting had limited capability
